Design Anxieties (or, a series of edge cases amid the unknowable page that is the Internet)
The future of design lies in overcoming the anxiety arising from abundance.
Can we understand the material we are working with (screens) and embrace what they do (glow in the dark) without getting caught up in the feeling that we've lost something (the classic compositions of fixed frames). Some of this was "solved" in early multi-window interfaces, but like so many things we've forgotten our own past and instead wandered into a world of infinite canvases without any point of reference.
This talk explores these anxieties and the idea of materiality in digital design, focusing on examples pulled from presentation design tools.
